From The President - By Mike Piccirilli Dear Members, I had the chance to fly with the new radio this past month. It takes a little getting used to but works great! I noticed that the nose wheel pant is taking a beating (a lot of paint has been chipped off). I'm assuming the tow bar is scaping off the paint. Please be careful when moving the aircraft. THere is also a lot of paint scrapped off the leading edge in front of the fuel tank caps. This looks like the work of the refuelers. I'm not sure if we have the paint to touch these up (or the equipmnt to spray the two part paint). It may make sense to fly past St. Charles and get an estimate to touch it up. Note from Editor: Would enamel or model paint be an inexpensive alternative?

SCHEDULING NOTE: Barb asked me to put a note in here to inform everyone that you should call her cell phone if you can not reach her at the home number. Thanks to everyone for giving their okey-dokey for me to take the plane for a little over a week to go to PA. I got some actual IFR time along the way, and logged about 17 hours on the trip. We should see a nice boost to the Treasury when theat time is paid next month
Maintenance Corner - from Marlin Sipe
The new Comm radio was really nice to use, and worked great on my trip to PA. I had an electrical system problem; the battery was not being properly charged on the way back to St. Louis. Randy checked it out and fixed a broken connection at the alternator. Prior to flying on 7/12, we did a VOR check and fount that the Nav #1 is off by 5 or 6 degrees. The maximum allowed for IFR flight is 4 degrees, so for now the plane is not legal for IFR flight.
