St. Louis Flying Club Newsletter - 4 May 2012

From The President - By Pic

Dear Members,

The club purchased Mike Warakomski's share and is currently working to add a new member to the club. Thanks to Mike Warakomski for all his efforts as Secretary since taking office in September 2005.

With Mike Warakomski leaving, the Secretary position is open. Per the By-Laws, I asked Charley Royce to be the interim Secretary (and he has graciously accepted) until we have our voting meeting in November. Charley has stepped right in and has arranged the May 12 lunch meeting at the Fox and Hound restaurant in Chesterfield. I look forward to seeing all of you at the meeting.

With the corporate documentation change, I will be creating new Corporate certificates which I will distribute at the May 12th meeting.

Thanks to John, Dale, Steve, Bob, and Shiv for their work on the Arrow annual! More details of the annual inspection are in the maintenance section.

In case you are interested, Air Associates is having a Cessna Demo Day on Saturday, May 5 from 10:00 to 2:00. They will have a full lineup of Cessna aircraft, including the Citation Mustang. It is open to everyone and they will have food and the St. Louis Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol will be their along with some interesting military aircraft. We heard there will be a lunchtime fly-by of the B-2 Stealth!

Congratulations to Shiv on his Orlando/Bahamas vacation flight. The longest flight ever in a club plane. Shiv has even created a Youtube Video of his flight (it even has exterior video you can watch his take-offs and landings)!

Happy Landings!

Secretary's Report - by Charlie Royce

I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the St. Louis Flying Club semi-annual meeting on May 12th at 11:30. At our last meeting, we agreed to do something a little more social by having a lunch meeting. I have arranged for us to meet at the Fox and the Hound in Chesterfield (17416 Chesterfield Airport Rd.) at 11:30 on Saturday May 12th. We will have a private room where we will eat and conduct our meeting.

The Fox and the Hound is waiving the room charge for us during our meeting and although they do not require a minimum attendance for our event, they would like to know how many will attend. Please let me know if you are NOT going to attend the meeting by Thursday, May 10th.

As usual, I would imagine that our meeting will last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. If you have an agenda item you would like covered at our meeting, please send that to me as well.

Treasurer's Report - by Mike McBride

Fuel prices increased by about $0.20 per gallon this month; the resulting hourly flight rates are $80 and $105 for the Cessna and Arrow, respectively. Flight hours were relatively high for both aircraft.Treasury balance is strong at just under $1,700; our Adjusted Treasury balance is about that far in the red as we work through member credit balances.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the meeting on May 12; I'll cover the current plans to handle the financial conversion of memberships from Limited to Full at that time.

Fly safely!

Mike
