St Louis Flying Club Newsletter - 19 April 1997

From The President - By Mike Piccirilli

Dear Members,

Marlin Sipe has purchased C.J. Vogt's share in the club. Welcome Marlin! I met Marlin at the airplane on 17 April and went over the pecularities of our airplane and normal club operations.

The insurance cost was increased because of the value of the airplane increasing. The annual cost ls $2,142. With the weather getting warmer, the winterization plate needs to be removed from the oil cooler. Randy could you do that when you have a chance over the next month or so?

The special assessment allowed the treasury to catch up but the increase in the cost of insurance has put us about $200 in the hole. I want to readdress the monthly dues and hourly costs at our next meeting as the current $40/month just covers the insurance, annual ($400). and personal property tax. The shadeport rent must come out of the hourly cost and because we aren't flying that much, we keep coming up short.

Speaking of the next meeting, Mlke Russell ls going to be scheduling one and will let you know the time. I suggested we meet again at the Million Alr facility.

If you are looking for an excuse to fly, think about flying ln the EAA Young Eagles program. The program takes kids, age 6 - 14, up for their first airplane rides. EAA has certificates and other support material. Phllllps 66 ls offering a $1/gallon rebate on any fuel used when giving the rides. You must give the rides by 10/6/97 and a copy of the Phillips receipt and your written statement must be malled to Phillips by 10/31/97. Call me lf you want more info.

Happy Landings,

Mike Piccirilli
