From The President - By Pic

Dear Members,

Thanks to Paul, Mike M, Phil, Steve, Todd, Chris, Charley, Bob and John who were able to make it out on Saturday to help with the move into our new hangars. Special thanks to Paul for offering his truck up for the heavy hauling. With everybody's help, the moving was finished by around noon! For those that weren't able to make it to the airport, the new hangars are B-1 and B-2. They back to each other and, thanks to Paul and Chris, have a passageway so we can walk inside to both planes. The hangars are at the North end of the County T"s west row of hangars which make them conducive to socializing (lots of ramp space and grass for a BBQ). Thanks to Charley for staying linked in with the Spirit administration to make this possible. The Arrow entry door key works for both of the new hangers (the Cessna hanger's lock needs repair as it does not lock yet).

But the hangar move wasn't the only thing going on this past week. Per John's e-mails, you've heard about metal found during inspection of the Arrow oil filter. Well, thanks to John and Bob's efforts, they did a compression check, bore-scoped the cylinders and inspected under the valve covers on Saturday. When that turned up no indication of cylinder or valve problems, John turned the oil analysis and oil filter to some experts and got the consensus to continue flying per Lycoming Service Instruction 1492D and recheck the oil filter after 10 hours. So the Arrow is back in flying status.

With all the help Saturday, the C-172 annual was also started. John will have the details in his section but I wanted to thank Charley, Bob, Steve and Jeffrey for helping John complete the annual!

Even though we got everything moved into the new hangars, we still need to install new lights and outlets in the Arrow Hanger. Thanks to Steve and his wife for installing the new power outlets in the Cessna hanger.

Happy Landings!

Treasurer's Report - by Mike McBride

Fuel prices rose slightly at TACAir, resulting in a slight increase in the C172 flight rate, now $81 per hour; the Arrow flight rate remained stable at $106 per hour. Flight hours for the month were low, with the C172 and Arrow logging 10.4 and 11.9 hours, respectively.

Expenses for the month were low, with only minor charges for parts, materials, and repairs. Treasury and Adjusted Treasury balances are strong, still reflecting the conversion of one limited membership to a full membership.

The annual inspection was completed on 26 August and the aircraft returned to service. The compression results were good with readings at 75/80, 79/80, 78/80 and 78/80. A more detailed annual report will be provided in next months newsletter.

The Oil analysis results for the Arrow are shown below. The last check on 12 August shows that the iron values are reduced and back in the normal range but we will check the filter after 10 hours see if the downward trend continues.
