From The President - By Charley

Members:

What a great month of flying! A big thanks to John and Kip who regularly work together to address issues quickly which makes it possible for us to fly as many hours as we did this month. Thanks also to Steve Heidenreich for repairing the tire on the Piper Arrow tug. TJ is working on a solid tire upgrade to prevent the tire from going flat in the future and it will be installed shortly.

The Photos below are of Steve and his wife Nancy's first trip to Oshkosh last month. If you have never been to Oshkosh, it is a great aviation event to attend, whether you fly or drive up.

Action items from our last club meeting continue to get completed with many members taking on new responsibilities and generally helping to make our club the best it can be. Thanks to everyone for pitching in! If you have questions about a particular item or would like to discuss an action item you volunteered to complete at our last meeting please drop me a note.

Steve Heidenreich is working on some proposed dates for our Fall meeting in either October or November, I’m sure he will have a schedule out soon. Please be thinking about items you would like to see on the agenda for that meeting as we will solicit input to publish information in advance. During the past several meetings we have had a simple BBQ which has worked out well for a time to socialize afterwards. If you would be willing to organize a simple lunch for the club after our next meeting just drop Steve a note.

Talk to you next month.

Safe skies!

Treasurer's Report - by PIC

Members,

What a great month of flying. We put over 70 hrs total on the planes, more than any month in the history of the club! (In 2007, we only put 85 hrs on the 172 in the entire year!) It's obvious, by seeing the 19 entries for fuel credit, that members have pretty well discovered the benefits of buying fuel themselves. Members saved $326 when they bought cheaper fuel (either on X-Cs or at the self-serve pump)! The full-service TACair fuel price has gone down slightly lowering the hourly costs to $78 and $103 respectively. The monthly dues are unchanged and the share value lowered a bit to $10,585 (primarily a timing issue of all the flight time chrages this month). The cash-back bonus on the credit card has grown to over $500 and the first quarterly payment from Sporty's is on the way for $26.99. The standby vacuum systems have been received for both planes and were paid for from the improvement fund. The current improvement fund amount is now $2,040.

  • LH Wing Tip - The LH wing tip was damaged on 13 August and replaced with a new wing tip on 14 August. The member that accidentally damaged the wing tip covered the cost of the repair.
  • Annual Inspection - I currently have September 19th to October 2nd scheduled for the annual inspection. The main upgrades planned during the annual are the GDL-88 ADS-B in/out installation and the standby vacuum system installation. We also plan to relocate the AERA from the bottom of the stack to the top of the stack for better access and visibility. Hopefully we can complete the inspections and the planned upgrades in the scheduled time period.

  • Oil and Filter Change - The oil and filter were changed on August 13th and the oil sample was sent in for analysis.
