From The President - By Mike Piccirilli

Dear Members,

I received a reply from the Vice-President of T.W. Smith Engine Co., Inc. regarding our oil analysis. I quote, "In looking over your oil analysis, I see nothing to be concerned about. If your oil consumption ls okay, the screen or filter ls clean at the oil changes, and the engine runs well, there is definitely nothing to be worried about. An oil analysis sometimes creates concern when no concern is due. Our position has always been that if you can see metal in the filter or screen, it is time to investigate."

The engine is about 6 hours away from the next 25 hour oil change. If there is no change in the oil analysis (there is no negative trend), then I suggest we go back to the 50 hour changes.

I haven't been out to take a look but I've been told the elevator tip has been replaced and painted. This incident should make us all remember to make sure the plane ls centered and on the yellow line before pushing it all the way in the hanger. Make use of your passengers to help guide you.

Emerson called to let me know he will be gone over the Labor Day holidays. Call C.J. for scheduling while he is gone. Also the county airshow will be the last weekend ln September. I have yet to get any correspondence from the airport regarding the hours the airport will be closed or any special parking regulations.

Happy Landings,

Mike Piccirilli
