From The President - By Steve
Dear Members,
I hope everyone had a great Christmas. My family gatherings were disrupted by positive covid tests, although fortunate to have no serious illness among family and friends. I am grateful for that.
Looking back at 2021 we changed 3 members as Todd Michal, Rob Jenner and Tim Volk moved on, their place taken by Mike Mahoney, Jason Watt and Brad Hansen. We logged a club record of over 739 hours with the RV at 273, the Cessna at 234 and the Arrow at 232. We saw modest increases in hourly rates and monthly dues that are still more than reasonable considering the spike in fuel and insurance. There will be more to come on insurance as VP Gallaway communicates with our broker prior to our policy renewal on January 22.
Thanks to everyone whose contributions in 2021 allowed the club to operate as efficiently as it did. Being a part of this club, and being able to fly one of these planes any time and anywhere, is no small thing. How lucky we are. Here’s hoping for a better year in 2022.
Safe flying!
Steve

BILLING STATEMENT
General Comments:
- Nothing out of the ordinary, don't hesitate to call with questions.
BALANCE SHEET
Significant Discussions:
- Treasury Insurance - We have now amortized the 2021 insurance payment to $0 and when the new payment is made in January, the amount will return to a negative balance.
- Avionics Improvements - We paid for the new audio panels and as such, the avionics fund has moved down.
- Maintenance Funds - All the maintenance funds are adequate and healthy relative to our spend rate over the past 12 months.
- Overall Cash - Cash is sufficient to operate into the foreseeable future.
DUES
Our current dues allocation is as follows:
Maintenance - by John
N202CR RV-7A
- Oil Change - On December 4th, we changed the oil and oil filter. We inspected the oil filter and it looked good. The oil sample was sent in for analysis and the results showed an increase in iron level with a caution note to check filter (which looked good) and check sample at next oil change (which we always do). We had a similar iron caution note on the Arrow last year where the filter looked good and the next oil sample results were back down in the normal range.
- Crankshaft Seal - When we took the cowl off to do the oil change, we saw a lot of oil on the forward portion of the engine which was traced to a leaking crankshaft seal. We replaced the seal with a new seal and oil is no longer leaking from this area.
N20843 Cessna 172M
- Oil Change - On 3 December, we changed the oil and filter. The filter inspection and oil analysis results were good.
- Annual Inspection - The Cessna Annual Inspection expires at the end of January. I have scheduled the Annual inspection from January 31 through February 6th.
N2242N Piper Arrow IV
- Oil Change - On 3 December, we changed the oil and filter. The filter inspection and oil analysis results were good.
- Pitch Trim Servo - On 31 December, we had a message on the G3X that the autopilot pitch trim servo has an internal hardware failure and will need to be replaced. The pitch trim servo is still under warranty and we will order a replacement from Garmin. Then manual pitch trim wheel still works and the Arrow remains operational.
