From The President - By Steve
Dear Members,
I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year holiday.
We are still waiting on another insurance quote but based on
the quote we have and the rate increase on our hangars, the monthly
dues will have to go up. TJ will explain further in his section below.
Both new members are checked out in the Cessna and there is still a fair
amount of flying going on given the weather has turned colder. The wing
on the Arrow is finished and John has had some contact concerning the
RV engine so things are moving forward with those airplanes.
I want to than Brian Williams for stepping into the VP job. It is peak
season for Brian's job with FedEx so until he has a chance to get
up to speed with the VP role I would ask you to copy me on any
status changes or scheduling issues.
I am sure 2024 will be a great year for the St. Louis Flying Club.

Treasurer's Report - by T.J
BILLING STATEMENT
Comments:
- Happy New Year!
- We welcome two new members this month, David Ammons and David Paland. However, Mike Landgraf and Brad Hansen will remain on the list until next month.
- As stated last month, we will only have the Cessna flying for several months but will continue to update the financials for each aircraft every month.
- Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.
BALANCE SHEET
- We spent funds for the Arrow and RV and these amounts are reflected in cash, with an increase in Work in Process. Consistent with all of our other improvement projects, we will record in WIP until we place the plane(s) back into service and will then record at their new market value with the improvements.
- We have exhausted our 2023 insurance premium as of December. When we make payment for the 2024 premiums, they will be recorded as a negative treasury item with the offset in prepaids. This will amortize over the year.
- Please let me know if you have any questions.
DUES
- We haven't raised dues since June of 2022 (when we raised from $160 to $170).
- However, we need to raise dues effective January 2024, primarily to cover rising insurance and hangar costs.
- Dues will be $185 starting next month and will be comprised of:
Maintenance - by John
N202CR RV-7A
- Engine - The engine was inspected on 27 December by Signature Engines with the results summarized below:
NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) Inspections report on your engine… everything that normally goes back into the engine that does not have a life limit passed inspections except for the crankshaft and crankcase.
The crankshaft has pitting on it and was at service limits for STD. It was sent to Aircraft Specialites Services for attempted repair, which we are highly confident can be accomplished. It was sent out 12/27/2023.
The crankcase had center main bearing saddle damage and one of the dowels in a center main was also loose, it to was sent out for attempted repair. We are reasonably confident it too can be repaired and was also sent out 12/27/2023.
Everything else has now moved to layup to be married up with the repaired, new and overhauled articles required to rebuild it.
N20843 Cessna 172M
- No maintenance actions this month
N2242N Piper Arrow IV
- RH Wing - On November 29th, the RH wing was shipment to Flying T for repair. On January 2nd, Flying T notified us that the repair work has been completed and requested final payment. We are currently coordinating the delivery date of the repaired wing and cowl back to St Louis.
- Engine - The engine was delivered to Poplar Groves Airmotive on December 7th for the prop strike inspection/overhaul.
