From The President - By Mike Piccirilli Dear Members, WE WON!! The lawsuit finally was retried on December 17th and we won a Judgement of $11,058! (see the attachment) I'd like to thank Charlie for all his efforts over the past 3 and a half years fighting for this Judgement, especially the effort over the past couple of weeks. I don't know of any lawyer that would have taken this case on a % basis as the $ rate per hour doesn't amount to too much. Also the current members of the club owe thanks to Bill Wagner for his time spent preparing the case with Charlie and myself as well as for his splendid testimony at the trial. Unfortunately, it isn't over. The St. Louis County lawyer indicated he was going to appeal the case on the grounds that this wasn't a motor vehicle accident. It seems St Louls County can only be sued for two things, one of those being motor vehcle accidents. Because we did not prove it was a motorized tug that was towing the plane, they feel they have a chance to turn the case over in Appelate Court. Charlie says it will probably be another 2 years for the appeal to be heard. Isn't our Judicial system great! C.J. has offered to fly the plane over to a mechanic he knows at Shafer Airport to have the auto-pilot looked at. He plans on doing this over the holidays. I received the new lease for the shade hangar (see the attached letter) and the plane will be moved into spot #2 as of the first of the year, Spot #2 faces the northeast and is closest to runway 8L/26R. The lease is on a month to month basis and allows you to, park your car under the hangar. The electrical service ls limited to no more than 8 amps. No electric preheating device may be used without a member being present. I have received one appilcation for an eighth member and am in conversation with another very promising candidate. I will forward the applications I have in the next monthly letter. Happy Landings, Mike Piccirilli
