From The President - By Mike Piccirilli

Dear Members,

WE WON, AGAIN!! Hopefully you all received a copy, from Charlie, of the Appeals Court ruling affIrmlng our previous award. It is certainly nice to feel Justice has finally been done! It's also nice to know that all the time and effort that went into preparing for these Judicial hurdles has been worth it! Special thanks to Charlie for his tenacity that was needed to win this case.

Charlie tells me the County has the option to try having the case reheard in the Appeals Court or taking the case to the Missouri Supreme Court. Whatever they decide to do, the County owes an additional 9% interest from the initial trial last December (that's over $1,000 already). At that kind of interest, I can wait quite a while!

In the meantime I replaced the ELT battery and we received the dorsal fairing and windshields but haven't been able to get the 172 into a hanger to get them installed. Bill Rlchards has promised Chuck that he will start working on it Monday 20 December. The airplane ls not airworthy until this work is completed. The biennial transponder and static system checks have been completed.

While we are waitlng for the proceeds from the trial, let's give some thought to what we will do with the money! Below are some ideas to get you started:

  • A paint Job (what color?, where? - most of the local paint shops went under water)
  • Refurbish the interior (purchase new plastic interior pieces and install ourselves, let a professional shop do it, change the interior color)
  • Avionlcs (panel mounted GPS, removeable GPS, new radios)
  • Liquidate the club (Since at least 2 members have been lnterested in selling their shares, with little success, and our share values won't go up by as much as we would put into it, should we maximize our return by liquidating the club)

When the money is finally available, I will call a meeting to discuss how much we have to work with and some specifics on the options above. Have a happy and safe holiday season!

Happy Landings,

Mike Piccirilli
