From The President - By Mike Piccirilli Dear Members,Thanks to John and Randy for fixing the landing light. I flew to Cuba, MO recently and was surprised that they are selling avgas (100 LL) for substantially less than Spirit. They were charging $1.80 a gallon vs the $2.95 at Spirit. Even on just 10 gallons of avgas, that's a savings of $11.50. If you're just on a joyride, I suggest filling up on your way back to Spirit. The FBO is pretty casual. They have irregular hours though. They suggested that we could get our own credit card to operate the pump ourselves when the attendent wasn't there. For those that fly more than me, what do you think? Happy Landings! Treasurer's Report - by Marlin Sipe We are still ahead of the game on saving for the annual, with another increase of about $230 in the Adjusted Treasury, now at $1192. Although the possible problem with the Attitude Indicator may put a dent in that. In the latest batch of credit card receipts that I received from Jet Corp last week, the price of fuel has gone from $2.80 to $2.95 per gallon. Ouch. With Pic's approval, the hourly rate will go up to $47 on the next bill. A few weeks ago the self-serve at Smartt was still at $2.29, and I topped it off while I was there. On my trip to Kansas City I got self-serve for $2.36. The price for them to pump it at the same FBO was 70 cents per gallon more than self-serve. It pays to look around and grab it where's it's cheap. There's an error of 0.2 hours somewhere in the bill this month, which I'll figure out the next time I get out to the plane and double check the flight log. Maintenance - by John Heilmann Replaced the landing light on January 26th. On a subsequent flight, Marlin reported a lot of static on the radio when the landing light was turned on. We will check out the wiring to make sure we have a good ground on the landing light circuit. An oil change is now due on the aircraft. BFR/Medicals Due - by Todd Michal Thanks for keeping me up to date on your medical and BFR changes. According to my records, the only item that is past due is Mike Russell's BFR (due in August 2002). Upcomming expirations include:
