From The President - By Charley

Dear Members:

It is great to see the dreay winter starting to fade away to some better flying weather! Steve and his wife enjoyed the great weather last weekend with a trip down to Gaston's in the Citabria. I hope everyone has had a chance to enjoy some of the great weekends recently.

I’m happy to report that we continue to receive applications for club membership. Steve will be giving a tour to a couple prospective members over the next week or so, if you see them at the hangar be sure to stop by and introduce yourself and offer your perspective on the club.

As a reminder, Dom has recently made significant updates to the member handbook. If you have not yet please give it a look and get back to Dom with any additions or questions. We have removed the “member” section of the handbook to reduce the number of updates so please be sure that your information on the website is up to date by emailing John with any changes.

In the next couple of weeks, Tim will be setting a date for our May meeting. Please be thinking about what Saturdays work for us, typically May will be nice weather for a BBQ and we will likely stick around afterwards for an hour or two for a social. As usual, club officers will get together a couple of weeks in advance to formulate an agenda, if you have ideas or topics you would like to see addressed please drop one of us a note. John reports that he and Larry are finishing up an avionics install at WOH and are planning to start the Cessna upgrade later this month.

Safe Skies,

Treasurer's Report - by T.J

Fellow Members,

Several highlights:

  • Fuel – Gas at TacAir has broken the $7 mark and is now $7.19 per gallon! We still have plenty of money going into the maintenance funds so I don’t see a change in rates anytime soon, but it is all the more incentive to self-fuel.
  • Cash – We had several large cash transactions in the month.
    1. Trading members
    2. Making our annual insurance payment to AIG
    3. Purchase of the autopilot and G5’s for the Cessna.
The combination of insurance and the avionics purchase were in excess of $20,000 and the primary cause of the large decrease.
  • Treasury – Treasury moved negative in the month as we have borrowed from the other “cookie jars” to pay for insurance. Consistent with last year, this will move into positive in the early fall timeframe.
  • Avionics Improvement – Similar to treasury, the avionics funds move even more negative in the month from the purchase for the Cessna. Monies will be replaced into the fund with 1) Sales of existing avionics, 2) an upcoming $150 assessment later in the spring, and 3) over time with our $300 per month addition.
  • Major Work in Progress – As a reminder, this balance sheet caption is where we are holding the value of upgrade equipment until they are installed in the aircraft, and we revalue the aircraft. This is done as to not impact the member equity as we outlay cash and have not yet received an improved aircraft value.

As always, please don’t hesitate to call with questions.
