From The President - By Steve
Dear Members,
I would like to welcome Doug Miller as our newest member. Doug purchased Geoff Gallaway’s share with Pic assisting in the transaction as I was out of town. Geoff told me he was grateful for his years in the club and wished us well. I am sure Doug is looking forward to getting back into general aviation.
The big things coming up are getting the wing back on the Arrow and the engine on the RV. Not much else to talk about on my end.
Dave Ammons and a friend flew down to Gastons and had a great time fishing on the White River. Here are some pictures from their trip and a few of the nice trout they caught.

BILLING STATEMENT
Comments:
- Thanks everyone for sending in their receipts! Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.
BALANCE SHEET
- Consistent with last month, we spent funds for the RV and Arrow and these amounts are reflected in cash, with an increase in Work in Progress. We will continue to record here until the planes are placed back into service at which time the improvement account will be "zero'd out" and the planes will be recorded at fair market value.
- A friendly reminder that the club has approved up to an $800 assessment to cover the costs associated with the RV; at the moment, it still appears that we will have enough cash to not need to do an assessment.
- Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.
Maintenance - by John
N202CR RV-7A
- Annual Inspection - Work continues on the RV in preparation for installing the engine later this month. Larry flushed the oil cooler and changed the nose tire/tube. A small hole in the exhaust pipe was weld repaired and all the joints inspected. New fuel and oil hoses were ordered and will be fabricated to length once the engine is installed.
- Engine - No update from Signature this month as they were awaiting the return of the case from Divco.
N20843 Cessna 172M
- Gascolator Drain - During some of the colder days, the gascolator drain would not close by itself and fuel would continue to drain. You would have to manually push the knob down to get it to stop draining. Larry checked the system and lubricated the push/pull cable and it was working ok. Keep and eye on this and let me know if this issue continues.
- Manifold Pressure and % HP readings - Larry and Steve did a flight test to check % HP readings on the JPI Engine monitor. The % HP readings were accurate compared to the Engine Performance information provided by AirPlains.
- Prop Balance - On 29 February, the engine and prop were dynamically balanced by Mike Rohmann.
- Pushback into the hangar - When pushing or using the tug to put the Cessna back in the hangar, make sure you keep the nose wheel and the main wheels on the yellow lines when you get near the hangar so the tail does not hit anything. It is easy to focus and keep the the nose wheel on the yellow line and not notice that the main wheels are moving off the line. We added a red line on the center yellow line. When the nose wheel reaches the red line, stop and check that all the tires on are on the yellow lines and that the tail is not going to hit anything before continuing into the hangar.
N2242N Piper Arrow IV
- RH Wing - We received the wing back from Flying T and installed it on the fuselage on 5 March. Thanks to Damian, Cory, and Andrew (friend who volunteered to help) for helping to get the wing installed in the fuselage. All the wing attach bolts have been installed and torqued.
- Engine - Poplar Grove reported that the engine case inspection was completed with no issues found. The Crankshaft was still in inspection and they didn't have the final results yet.
- Propellor - Memphis Propellor could not find a used prop for us and notified us that McCauley raised their prices by $800.00 on new propellors. They said they could still honor their quote of $10,400 if we placed an order by the end of Feb. We ordered the new propellor and sent a 50% deposit check for $5,350.
