From The President - By Mike Piccirilli Dear Members, The 172 was hit on the spinner Jan 21 by a Piper rented out by Air Spirit. The Piper swung wide when leaving it's tie-down spot and its wingtip crushed the spinner. Executive Beechcraft thoroughly inspected the engine mount and firewall and could find no damage other than the spinner. They ordered, painted and installed the spinner and the 172 was back on line Feb 6. A copy of the letter I sent to their insurance claim processor is attached. I am asking for both the repair cost and loss of use. No reply from the insurance company yet. The radio speaker continued to act up on me the past month. The speaker would go dead after about 15 minutes. The transmitter worked fine and I communicated thru the aircraft transmitter and my hand-held receiver. Ozark Aircraft Radio could not duplicate the problem on the ground so I agreed to replace the speaker ($16) since lt was pretty well shot. The problem could be an amplifier that is located under the glove box. If you have problems with the speaker try smacking the amplifier. Ozark Radlo admitted that it could be the culprit. I received one applicatlon for Bill's share from a doctor who saw my ad at Spirit. It is attached. He Just happens to be my wlfe's doctor who she has known for 10 years. She speaks highly of him as a person and from his write up, he would help maintain the plane and is more than willing to upgrade it. Please call him if there are any questions you would like to ask. I will be contacting all the members ln the next week to see if you approve of hlm as a member. If I get the required 75% approval of the members, I will authorize Bill to sell his share to him. There are other people who are interested in buying a share of the club, but have not yet sent in an application. I will also be asking each of you if you would approve of increasing the number of members to 8. Per my prevlous letters, you realize the plane is under utilized and realize the plane needs a paint job and could use some upgrades. The 8th member could go a long way in solvlng these problems. The constitution says we need a unanimous decision of all the members to increase the number of members. If we don't, I will be asking the membership for a special assessment later this year to handle some of these problems. The special assessment only requlres a majority. Happy Landings, Mike Piccirilli
