From The President - By Mike Piccirilli

Dear Members,

The annual has finally been completed after much agony. Bill Richards had a change of heart and decided he would rather not perform our annual. At that point, I decided to get the annual done as soon as possible and contracted with Weiss. They finished it on February 15th.

Weiss has yet to send the bill, but their basic charge was $432. They did find some things wrong. The control arm of the accelerator pump was fractured (this should have caused the engine to cough and sputter when the throttle was shoved in. Did anyone notice?) The front wheel bearings needed replacing. The gasket around the air filter was deteriorated and needed replacing. (I have the old bearings and gasket if anyone ls interested in them.) The mechanic suggested that the spark plugs be replaced (about 90% worn) and the right tire was getting bald.

The cowl plugs are so deteriorated that they no longer stay in. Is anyone interested in making a new set? If I don't hear any takers by 1 March, I will order a set. Current cost for some nice ones is $43.

It's insurance renewal time again. Please answer the questions on the enclosed form, check that your information is correct, sign, date, and return the form with your payment.

Happy Landings,

Mike Piccirilli
