Dear Members,

Thanks to Charlie for all his efforts in getting the club hangar. John is working to add lights, some additional outlets, and a work bench.

Mike Warakomski has scheduled the annual club meeting for Saturday, January 26th from 1:00 to 3:00 in the JetDirect Conference room. Everyone give some thought to the club officer positions and any itmes that you would like to discuss. Hopefully everyone can make it to the meeting.

Treasurer's Report - by Mike McBride

The club financial position remains as expected through mid-January, with the adjusted treasury balance still in the red at ($1,416.62). We will likely have an assessment on the February bill to bring that balance back into the black; we can discuss assessment timing at the annual meeting. The amount of the assessment should be somewhere between $150 and $175 per member.

With the plane now in the hangar, the next statement will show a slight monthly increase to cover the hangar charges ($265 per month).

Fuel prices dropped slightly this month, reducing the hourly flight rate to $61 per hour. Fuel prices at JetDirect are consistently less than that at Sycamore, so please call JetDirect for fuel. If you are on the field, please be aware that the Sycamore fuel truck is very active in soliciting services. Please try to avoid using them if possible until their prices get more competitive.

Flight time was just over 20 hours for the month, the highest monthly usage since January 2007.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the club's annual meeting at JetDirect on Saturday the 26th.

GNS-430W Software Update - Thunder Aviation installed the updated software version 3.0 per Garmin Service Bulletin 0740. The software update resolves some bugs and compatibility issues and adds several new capabilities and features including:

Added the ability to load an arrival or departure without first removing existing arrival or departure, addressing the issue described in Service Alert 070227-00
Reduced TAWS nuisance alerts for circling approaches
Added XM weather products: Lightning, Cell Movement, and Winds Aloft
Added ability to store and remotely tune up to 15 radio channels
Improved prompting for course reversals at IAF transitions on approach
Improved Auto-Zoom functionality
Improved VNAV functionality during holds
Corrected the operation of the E6B winds aloft calculation on Winds page
Unit now retains user settings on NAV1 page over a power cycle (400W series units)
Unit now starts up in last mode used (GPS or VLOC) instead of reverting to GPS mode at startup
Corrected issue of intermittent screen flashing LI>The GPS software version (3.0) allows for removal of the IFR GPS operational limitation when using a compliant antenna (Our GA-35 Antenna is compliant).

A new Supplemental Airplane Flight Manual (190-00356-03 Rev A) was provided with the Software Upgrade and is in the Aircraft Binder and on the 'Pilot Manual" web page.

Oil Analysis - We received the oil analysis results from the oil change on 19 Nov shown as sample 23 below. There was a increase in most readings but all the values are well within normal ranges. The affect of using Avblend is shown starting with sample 11 below.
