From The President - By Pic

Dear Members, The reincorporation process continues to progress. Our new non-profit MO corporation has been approved link to the Secretary of State website to our listing. I even have a Robin Carnahan signed Certificate! Our lawyer, Tom Mug, has begun the process of transferring the assets (a paperwork process - no FAA Bill of Sale) and dissolving the previous benevolent corporation. If you haven't reviewed the new By Laws, please do so and send your comments/approval to me ASAP.

Chris has been doing a lot of communication with insurance brokers. He found us a policy that provides liability coverage for John, while performing our maintenance, as well as our club instructors, while instructing in our planes, and still is hundreds less than our current policy. His research also uncovered another insurance company that we could potentially use in the future. This company's policy could save us thousands by requiring a much higher minimum time in the Arrow and require club pilots to fly at least 10 hrs/year. Chris can discuss this in more detail at out next club meeting.

The promised Operating Handbook is very close to being completed. John is putting the final touches on some slides documenting the Tug operating procedures. Look for it soon!

Happy Landings!

Treasurer's Report - by Mike McBride

Fuel prices remained stable over the past month, so flight rates were flat at $74 / $98 per hour for C172 / Arrow. Flight time was just under 15 hours for the C172, and just under 27 hours for the Arrow.

This month's statement includes the corrections on 2011 fuel prices that I noted in last month's billing statement, please let me know if you have any questions about the adjustment amount.

While our treasury balance is very strong (just under $3,000), our adjusted treasury is very low; this reflects adjustments for member balances (our positive treasury is due to several members carrying credit balances.) The fuel adjustment should help this adjusted treasury situation to some degree; I will also try to track our expense history against our allocations in the dues and flight rates, to ensure those rates are still in line with our expected expenses.

Fly safely!

Mike

  • Turn Coordinator - The Arrow turn coordinator was replaced with an exchange unit P/N 1394T100-7Z, S/N 9301-16 from Aircraft Quality Instruments on 8 Jan.
  • Spinner - Durning a preflight inspection on 19 Jan, the spinner was found to have a crack and missing attachment fastener. The spinner was sent to K&K Precision welding for repair. The self locking feature on three of the platenuts on the spinner bulkhead were worn and the platenuts were replaced. The spinner was repaired and returned on 27 Jan but the package was crushed by UPS during the return shipment and the spinner was damaged beyond repair. I am working with K&K for compensation or a replacement spinner and also with Wag Aero for a new composite spinner.
