From The President - By Charley

Dear Members:

I know that everyone is happy to have the Arrow back in service. Please join me in thanking John, Larry, and a whole host of others who helped get the rebuilt engine installed. Not only is the engine installed but we basically have a new aircraft from the firewall forward! The install looks incredible and I know we are all looking forward to flying the Arrow again. Per John’s note, it is important that the plane be flown cross country for the first 10 hours or so. If you have questions about that, please call John directly to discuss.

The engine replacement cost significantly more than we had budgeted for in the Arrow’s engine fund. As discussed during our last meeting this is a balance between having funds on hand and our hourly rates. There is probably no right answer to this balance but club officers will be meeting over the weekend to review or current situation and make a few recommendations regarding finances.

Don Hamblen has indicated that he will be moving to Florida in February and his share is for sale. We do have a healthy waiting list and I expect to have a recommendation for a replacement shortly. Per our by-laws members have the first right of refusal to purchase an available share, let me know if you are interested.

Safe skies,

Charley

Treasurer's Report - by T.J

Fellow Members,

As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions. I’m excited to be in this role and happy to discuss any of the aspects of our finances with you.

Dues – Dues have increased $1 per month due to minor tweaking in the calculation. Our 2017 insurance invoices are official and will be reflected in the February 15, 2017 statement. In addition, the 2016 personal property taxes have been paid.

Aircraft Rates – Fuel rose slightly for the month to $6.15 per gallon so the rates went to $65, $79 and $104 for the Citabria, Cessna and Arrow respectively.

Share Value – Share value went down slightly from $10,292 per share to $10,274 per share. This decrease is primarily attributable to an additional increase in the final estimate of what it will take to complete the Arrow engine overhaul.

Fly safe!

TJ

   Maintenance - by John

N8746V Citabria 7ECA

No maintenance issues to report this month

    N20843 Cessna 172M

Oil Change - The oil and filter were changed on 18 January. An oil sample was sent in for analysis.

Engine Monitor - Now that the Arrow Engine installation effort is complete, we have started working on the angle mount blocks so the engine monitor can be installed at a better viewing angle. Once the engine monitor is installed, we will need to reenter all of our settings as the new software that was installed erased all of our previous settings.

N2242N Piper Arrow IV

Engine - The overhauled engine installation was completed on Jan 21 and the initial test/engine break-in flights were completed. We plan to change the oil in approx 7.5 hours and inspect the oil filter. We will continue to use Mineral Oil for the next 35 to 40 hours before switching back to our normal Phillips X/C 20W50 oil.
