From The President - By Steve
Dear Members,
I am happy to tell you our insurance is paid and we saw a significant reduction in cost and the deductibles also went down. Thanks to Brian Williams for working with our broker to remove "student pilot" from our coverage. He correctly noted we do not accept students and this could be the reason for the decrease in rates. The 2026 Insurance policy is available to read in the Club Documents/Insurance link on our website. TJ will have more detail in his financial section but the savings will result in a $20/month decrease in dues.
It looks like we will have snow on the ground for at least another week and there are some areas of packed snow and ice around the hangars so be careful when taxiing and pushing the aircraft back in the hangar.
Please use the preheat before flying and make sure to turn it off when finished. There seems to be a glitch and sometimes it has turned itself on after a manual shutoff. Going online to turn it off seems to work.

Maintenance - by John
N202CR RV-7A
- RV Engine Heater - We had a report that the engine heater was plugged in and the heater control showed it was on but there were no amps showing on the heater control. We replaced the plug on the RV and the heater is now operating correctly. Always check to make you see the amps to indicate the heater is actually working.
N20843 Cessna 172M
- No maintenance Actions this month
N2242N Piper Arrow IV
- Pitch Trim Servo Failure - The autopilot did not pass the Preflight test and a message indicated the pitch trim servo had failed. We ordered a replacement Pitch Trim Servo under warranty and will replace it when the parts arrive. The autopilot is currently set up to work without the Pitch trim servo operating. The G3X display will give you an indication when you need to trim up or down. You can then use the manual trim wheel to trim as necessary. The Trim circuit breaker is pulled with a collar on it.
- Radio Light Circuit Breaker - The Radio light circuit breaker keeps popping. This circuit controls the lights for the GMA-345 audio panel button nomenclature. The problem was traced to an issue in the Dimmer/Switch panel located at the bottom of the center avionics stack. With the weather so cold, the plastic needed to be removed to access the switch panel is very brittle and will crack. With the warmer weather coming next week, we plan to remove and fix the control panel. The Radio light circuit breaker is pulled with a collar on it.
