From The President - By Charley
Dear Members: I’d like to add my welcome for N202CR to the St. Louis Flying Club! It was great to see everyone at our recent club meeting, thanks to everyone for making the effort to attend. While I know that we will never achieve a 100% agreement on the aircraft we choose, I feel like the vast majority of our club was represented in the choice of the RV7. Thanks to Mike Landgraf for stepping in as Secretary for the meeting. You will have seen from a recent email that Pic has been working on a POH for the new aircraft along with consultation from John Housley. Pic and John Housley are ready to perform checkouts in the RV7. Todd Michael also plans to become an approved check pilot and will assist when his checkout is completed. If you have questions regarding the aircraft itself, feel free to contact Pic or John for further information. The excellent POH created by Pic includes not only operating instructions but checklists as well. John is working on updating the Club website with the RV information and Dom has begun to add information to the club handbook. I’d like to offer a huge thanks to the aircraft acquisition committee for their work to narrow down the selection, search for and purchase our newly acquired RV. A significant amount of work and thought went into the selection and I know you all will join me in saying thanks as you see members of the committee. As a reminder, Pic chaired the committee, other members were John Heilmann, Steve Heidenreich, Geoff Galloway and Larry Wehrman. Thanks guys, and great job getting us a great aircraft quickly! We are in the process of evaluating our potential new members list and gauging interest, I will be back to you with a new member vote in the near future. If you recall we agreed to add one new member to pay for part of the increased funds required and agreed to evaluate the remainder of the funds required to cover our purchase, most likely through an assessment. I look forward to hearing about everyone’s experience getting checked out in the RV! Safe skies, Charley
