From The President - By Steve

Dear Members,

I am happy to welcome Rob Jenner as the newest member of the club. Rob is getting back into general aviation after a career flying business jets so our glass panels won't be anything new to him.

The members voted to add the G3X to the previously approved upgrades for the Arrow, with the install scheduled for this fall.

The planes flew around 40 hours last month with the RV seeing most of the action. The hours on the Arrow are picking up as Charley Royce just competed one of the longer trips in the Arrow with a flight to Maine (photos below).

Our Fall meeting will be here before you know it and I would ask you to consider serving in one of the officer positions. John Housley's departure left the Chief Pilot spot vacant and as President, I will fill that position until the elections in the Fall. If anyone is interested before then, give me a call. The club continues to function because of the contribution of its members.

Safe flying!

Steve

Significant Discussions

  • Avionics Fund - The club approved the upgrade to the Arrow that is expected to cost ~$19K in cash. We sold the GNS-430W from the RV (see discussion in further bullet) for $6,250 and moved $1,500 from the Arrow maintenance fund into the Avionics fund. This fund will remain negative for the foreseeable future.
  • Other Improvement Funds - We are no longer funding these as we experienced a significant increase in insurance and elected to not raise dues.
  • Maintenance Funds - No maintenance funds are negative
  • Overall Cash - Based on averages for the past three years, cash from June to December increases~19K each year, excluding any voted upon improvements. Thus, depending on how much the planes fly, we would expect cash to remain ~ flat from here until the end of the year.
  • Major Work - Good news on selling the GNS-430W from the RV. We will receive more than the budgeted amount so that increase is currently reflected in the share value.

RATE PER HOUR and DUES

  • As a reminder to the membership, we reimburse ourselves for our club as follows:
    • Improvements - Monthly/Annual Fixed charges – non-aircraft expense = Dues and Assessments
    • Aircraft Operation and Maintenance = Rate per Hour

N20843 Cessna 172

  • Autopilot Servo and G5 HSI - On July 7th, the new Pitch servo and exchange G5 HSI from Garmin were installed in the Cessna. The Software for the G5s and autopilot system was also updated to version 6.7. Ground and flight test of the G5 HSI and autopilot was successful.
  • Cowl Fasteners - Several of the Southco cowl fasteners were becoming worn and would not positively lock into position when turned. The worn fasteners were replaced with new Southco fasteners and now work correctly.
