From The President - By Steve
Dear Members,
AirVenture 2023 is over and the numbers are in with a record attendance of 677,000 people and over 10,000 airplanes! I cancelled my trip at the last minute but the club was well represented with John Heilmann, Brian Williams, Brad Hansen, TJ Smyka, PIC, Kip McCullen, Damian and Mike Mahoney attending. TJ and Mike flew up in the Arrow and the RV and Brad went up in his Bonanza. Brian got some great shots of TJ landing on the green dot.
Best wishes to Damian as he left Oshkosh and went directly to an accelerated training program in Minnesota to get his CFI/CFII.
I used to think I logged a lot of hours but there is no keeping up with the Mahoney's!
As a reminder to those of you who missed it the assessment for the Cessna engine went out last month.

BILLING STATEMENT
Comments:
- Thanks John & Larry for getting the RV back up and running so quickly!
- Thanks everyone who pushed their payments into PayPal. If anyone has had any problems, please let me know as soon as possible.
- Overall, please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions. Blue Skies - T.J.
BALANCE SHEET
- With member payments over the month, the cash position is strong, and we can make our payment for the new engine when John & Larry are ready.
- The new cylinder on the RV drained the RV maintenance fund, but it is still positive! We expect it to replenish over the next several months.

- Oil Change - On August 4th, we drained the mineral oil and changed the oil filter and added 7 qts Phillips X/C 20W50 oil. An oil sample was sent in for analysis. We are now back to using the normal Phillips X/C 20W50 oil in blue container. We checked the compression on Cylinder No. 3 and it was 64/80. We borescope the cylinder and everything looked normal. We lapped the cylinder No. 3 exhaust valve to improve the seal and improve the compression results.

- Oil Change On July 18th, we changed the oil and filter and added 7 qts Phillips X/C 20W50 oil and 11 oz Camguard. A check of the filter showed no metal in the filter. An oil sample was sent in for analysis
- Seat Rail AD Inspection On July 18th, the seat rails and seat rollers were inspected per AD 2011-10-09
N2242N Piper Arrow IV
- Oil Change - On 29 June, the oil and filter were changed and 7 qts Phillips X/C 20W50 and 11 oz Camguard were added. An oil sample was sent in for analysis and the results were normal. There was no metal in the filter.
- Annual Inspection - The Arrow Annual inspection was completed on 12 July. Compression results were #1-76/80, #2-79/80, #3-74/80, #4-75/80. In addition to the normal annual inspection actions, we replaced the pilot and copilot seat slings with new heavy duty Ceconite 101 fabric. The old seat sling fabric was torn and not providing much support. We also fabricated a mount for the fire extinguisher on the forward side of the pilots seat. Make sure you can reach and unlatch it in case you need it in the future.
