From The President - By Steve

Dear Members,

We had a busy month with Oshkosh, new member checkouts, and ongoing work on the Arrow.

It sounds like many members made it to AirVenture 2024 along with Mike Mahoney in the RV and TJ in the Cessna. I look forward to hearing about their experiences at the event.

Check out the August issue of EAA Sport Aviation where our club is one of five featured clubs. There are nice pics of the Cessna and John working on the RV, along with some details about the club. (See copy below). If you are interested in checking our local EAA Chapter 1675, stop by Wings of Hope this Thursday, August 8th at 5:45 for barbecued Hamburgers and Brats and hear our local KSUS FAA ATC Operations Manager, Anthony Lopez, talk about his experiences controlling aircraft at Oshkosh this year.

I have been able to get up in the RV a couple of times and it was just as I remembered only now with a fresh engine and a more comfortable interior! Thanks to everyone that helped on the project. I am looking forward to the completion of the Arrow.

Interest in our club remains high as I continue to communicate with prospective members.

Steve

Treasurer's Report - by T.J

BILLING STATEMENT

Comments:

  • The RV is back up and running! Get out there and enjoy it.
  • Thanks everyone for sending in the receipts and please ensure that you throughly review you data. Please reach out with any questions or concerns.

BALANCE SHEET

  • Cash - As discussed last month, we expect a low level of cash for some time until we get all of the planes flying.
  • Aircraft Valuations - We experienced a very nice increase in value this month as we placed the RV back into service and wrote it up to fair market value with the new engine.
  • Work in Progress - The RV has been marked as complete except for a contingency on credits we have historically given to John and Larry for all of their hard work. In addition, the line item includes final amounts required to get the Arrow back to flying condition.
  • Member Equity - Member equity increased due to the increase in value of the RV.

   Maintenance - by John

N202CR RV-7A

  • Oil Change - On July 31, we changed the oil and filter in the RV. Since oil consumption had stabilized, we are now using Phillips Victory Oil 50W20 in the engine. We also cleaned, gapped and rotated the spark plugs and checked the timing and compression.

N20843 Cessna 172M

  • No Maintenance actions this month

N2242N Piper Arrow IV

  • Wings - The Piper Service Bulletin repair kit for the LH wing rib arrived and has been located and drilled.
  • Shock Mounts - We finally received the new Lord Shock mounts from Aircraft Spruce and installed them between the engine and engine mount.
  • Speed Mods - We started installation of the Piper Speed mods with the initial installation of the RH gear fairing. Once the fairing is located, we can then fit the flap gap seals on either side. Hopefully with the addition of the main gear fairings and flap gap seals, we can pick up 4-5 knots in cruise speed.

  • Propellor - with the new engine shock mounts installed, we were able to install the new propellor.
