From The President - By Steve

Dear Members,

Another busy month with a lot of flying and our semi annual club meeting. We had a great turnout and I would like to thank all the officers for their efforts in preparing for the meeting and the members who showed up or sent proxies for the vote required for the by-law change. We did it a little differently this time with lunch first and I think it worked well. Thanks to John Waddell for providing the meal.

Mike has sent out the minutes so no need to recap here. With the announcement of the Oshkosh lottery it appears that all the club planes will make the trip in July.

Geoff Gallaway is obtaining a new insurance quote so we can keep pace with the increasing hull values. More on that in the near future. Thanks to Pic for updating the current value of the Cessna.

Brian Williams has generously offered his services as a club check pilot so if you want to get checked out in a new plane or just knock the rust off keep him in mind.

Congratulations to Mike Mahoney for getting checked out in all three club planes this month. His RV-7 checkout was completed on the formation flight to Mt Vernon for lunch on June 4th

TJ in the Cessna, Tim and Mike Mahoney in the RV, and Larry and John in the Arrow.

Larry flew the Arrow to his friends farm in Illinois (3LL6)

Safe flying!

Steve

Significant Discussions

  • Maintenance Funds - Given the decision to raise each plane’s rate per hour ($5), paired with a solid amount of hours, helped by little maintenance this month; we had nice increases in each fund.
  • Aircraft Valuations - We discussed the valuations of the aircraft at the club meeting and decided to review the values and ask for insurance rebids. Note that because of market moves, our aircraft valuations are increasing notably. However, given our by-laws state the we revalue the planes on 3/15 & 9/15, and we have not yet made a decision to change our insurance policies, we have elected to allow the process to continue as normal. IF we elect to make changes to our insurance values, then we will revalue the planes in that month to match the values for which we are insuring them.
  • Share Value - With little maintenance and the higher rate per hour, the share value increased. Please note that with the speed in which the aircraft are increasing, it is quite possible the next adjustment will be material.

  • Oil Change - The oil analysis results from the last oil change arrived and show all values within normal range!
  • Repaint Nosewheel Fairing - With the forecast for heavy rains over the weekend, Larry downed the RV to repaint the nose fairing and change the air filter. The plane should be returned to service on 30 June.
