From The President - By Todd Michal
Dear Members, There were no maintenance issues this month and with the weather improving, longer daylight hours, and lower fuel prices, its the ideal time to get some flying time in. John has set the tentative dates for the annual inspection for Friday April 25 through Sunday May 3rd. We plan to install the traffic monitor in the panel during the annual. Happy Takeoffs! Todd Treasurer's Report - by Mike McBride The adjusted treasury balance recovered slightly in the past month, with the treasury remaining flat, and both still showing a negative balance. We're currently about $1,800 below our desired treasury for the annual. We can leverage the engine fund balance at this point to cover any required expenses, but we will probably need an assessment in the next two to three months to bring balances back to acceptable levels. The amount will depend upon the expenses associated with the annual, but expect something in the $350 to $500 range. We had 7.5 flight hours during the month. Fuel prices at TacAir continue to fall, and our flight rate is currently at $57 per tach hour. With improving weather and good fuel prices, I hope everyone has a chance to get out and fly! Fly safely! Mike
Maintenance - by John Tach Accuracy - With the current tach approx 200 rpm off the actual engine rpm, I recommend we replace our current tach during the annual with a new UMA digital tach with an analog reading that is much more accurate than the mechanical tach. The UMA tach has internal lighting and an hour meter that can be set to match our current tach hour reading. The new tach with sender and internal lighting runs $389.90. If anyone has any recommendations on the tach, please let me know.
