From The President - By Charley

Dear Members:

If you have topics for our meeting in May, please be sure to get them to one of the club officers soon as we are meeting on Monday night to build the meeting agenda. As a reminder, our meeting will be on May 5th at 10:00 at the STLFC World Headquarters. As usual, we will have lunch afterwards please plan on staying afterwards for social time together. I’m sure Tim will be looking for volunteers to bring food, utensils, etc. please drop him a note if you are willing to assist.

John Housley has made a very generous aerobatic flight instruction offer for members if you are already checked out in the Citabria. He will provide 5 hrs of aerobatic instruction in the Citabria in exchange for the member joining the IAC and the local chapter. To join the IAC, you have to be a member of the EAA.

Membership costs - Full EAA and IAC membership: $85 / year (less if you are already an EAA member, or don’t want the Sport Aviation magazine), local IAC chapter membership: $15 / year for a total of $100.

Flight instruction savings - 5 hrs aerobatic instruction @ $50 / hr = $250 normal price; free with this offer would equal a savings of $150 for the five hours!

Please contact John for further details and thanks John for the generous offer to stimulate growth in the local aerobatics community! John also wanted me to mention that there is an IAC competition in Salem, IL June 8 – 10. Feel free to utilize John’s offer to get ready to compete or come out to watch! The Cessna Autopilot upgrade is currently scheduled to start on 17 April and is expected to take 4-6 weeks to complete. John will keep you up to date if there are any changes to the planned start date.
