From The President - By Mike Piccirilli Dear Members, The annual cost a bit more than I expected, $1,065.72. I have enclosed a copy of the bill. The major unexpected costs were the replacement of the carburetor accelerator pump rod ($109.77), replacement of the carburetor air inlet baffle ($234.80), nose wheel bearing replacement ($115.73), and repair of the air inlet tube to the stall warning horn ($74.22). The cylinder compressions are lower than I expected also; 68, 71,72, 70. I don't have the logbook to compare them to previous years but I am concerned that lack of use is causing premature wear of the cylinder walls. The followlng items were identified as potential problems for future repair: Right main tire is worn, spark plugs worn, and a crack ln the front baffle of the muffler air inlet. I talked with Randy about the tire and spark plugs and tasked hlm to talk with Chuck as far as getting the best price on a new tire and what the history is on the spark plugs. I haven't got a quote back from the insurance yet. I did get one from Avemco, which was $1,944 (about $200 more than last years prlce). I have yet to receive the questionnaire back from C J. and John. Please return ASAP . I received and installed the new cowl plugs. Please do not pull them out by pulling on the cord, they will rip the cords. Compress the cowl plug sides and grab the plug to remove them. As you can see from the monthly statement, we have gone negative on our treasury value. Increased fIying would certainly help it or we might need to increase dues or hourly rates in the near future. Happy Landings, Mike Piccirilli
