From The President - By Mike Piccirilli

Dear Members,

Dear Members,

Thanks to Randy, Marlin, and John for the work on the annual. I flew the plane over the weekend and everything was great!

When I saw the compression on 2 of the cylinders was low, it made me do some additional thinking on engine overhauls or replacement. Though it was hard to find any prices listed, it looks like the cost for an engine overhaul would be somewhere around $15K - $18K, plus the labor and/or ferry costs. I also got a quote from Air Plains to upgrade to a new 180 HP engine and increase the gross weight at $34K. It's definitely worthwhile to keep our engine going for as long as possible!

I've received another application for membership from a Doug Ness. I've let him know that I will contact him when a spot opens.

Happy Landings!

Treasurer's Report - by Marlin Sipe

Even after paying $695.42 for the Annual, we have $783 in the Adjusted Treasury, so we are looking real good for the year ahead, until the next surprise. As I've done the last few years, I totalled up the hours charged for each person. This is the first time I haven't flown the most. Todd came out on top. But in my defense, I spent 15 hours or so in a C-182RG working on my Commercial ticket.

Maintenance - by John Heilmann & Randy Skyles

Annual Inspection - The annual inspection went very smooth this year and was completed in two days. The compression on the #1 and #3 cylinders was down to 60. We will check the compression again the next time we change the oil and see if there are any improvements. The leakage on on the #1 and #3 cylinders is past the rings so it is not as critical as the exhaust valve leakage on cylinder #2 that we just overhauled. Oil analysis results and oil filter inspections do not show any indications of unusual wear. A trend of the compression test results is shown below:

   Insurance - by Todd Michal

The insurance quote for June 2005 - June 2006 was received. Based on an insured aircraft value of $47,600, the insurance premium increased by $371.00 to $2,889.00. This was still the best value compared to the other quotes we received. The insurance link button we be updated to show the new coverage and costs.
