St Louis Flying Club Newsletter - 20 May 1992

From The President - By Mike Piccirilli

Dear Members,

We had a very productive annual meeting on 15 April 1992. It was unfortunate the meeting coincided with Leonard's medical convention/vacation, some of us have yet to meet him. I'd like to thank everyone else for attending, it makes it a lot easier to conduct the club's business when the members show up. Charlie took minutes and they are enclosed.

I'd like to thank John and C.J. for offering to do some research. John is going to find out exactly what is broken on the autopilot/turn coordinator and how much it would cost to fix/replace them. It may be better to pitch the auto-pilot, replace the turn coordinator with a non-autopilot turn coordinator and put the money we save into a LORAN. C.J. is looking at the options we have to get the plane painted/windows replaced. Its possible we could save money by doing some of the work ourselves. C.J. was going to talk with the people at St. Charles Municipal and Weiss for bids. Thanks for the help guys!

Included this month, you'll find the Articles of Association and By-Laws which we reviewed at the meeting. I incorporated the changes talked about and I consider them approved by the members unless told otherwise. I included the latest roster updated with the current officer tltles. I also included a copy of the new insurance policy for everyone along with the agent card if you have any personal questions you'd like to ask him.

The speaker problems have been finally fixed. There was a bad ground in our speaker amplifier box. I want to thank Leonard for replacing the borrowed box with the repaired one!

Emerson has been busy obtaining a commemorative plaque for Bill Wagner and arranging a lunch get-together for the presentation. The latest word is it will be held on June 6, 1992 at Blaney's, next to the Spirit Administration building. I'm sure Emerson will be in touch with the time. Thanks for the effort Emerson.

It looks like an oil change is in order for mid-June based on the amount the plane is being flown. Chuck Zimmerman should be arranging a get together to work on the plane.

Happy Landings,

Mike Piccirilli
