From The President - By Todd Michal

Dear Members,

It was sad to see Skyline Aeronautics shut down this month. It was a nice operation and a good place to go for complex aircraft training. The pilot shop was also handy for picking up sectionals, books and other items. John said he received a few membership applications on the club website after Skyline closed as pilots are looking into other options.

Now that the temperatures are going into 30's and below, lets keep the engine heater plugged in. The heater not only heats up the oil and cylinders, it also warms up the engine compartment/battery which makes starting much easier.

Happy Takeoffs!

Todd

Treasurer's Report - by Mike McBride

The retail price of fuel at JetDirect has dropped significantly, to $5.20 per gallon as of the end of the billing cycle; this puts the flight rate for the month at $62 per hour. We had 9.8 flight hours for the month, $57.00 of purchases, $270 of fuel purchases at JetDirect, and just over $300 of off-field fuel credits. The fuel credits should be offset by a reduced fuel bill next month. The adjusted treasury remains negative, but should continue to recover as the monthly improvement fund increase offsets the costs of the improvements that we purchased.

As a reminder, the hangar fee increases by $20 to $285 per month starting in January 2009. I don't expect a change to the monthly dues to cover the additional rent.

Fly safe,

Mike

   Maintenance - by John

Fire Extinguisher - The new fire extinguisher is located in the rear seat pocket of the co-pilots seat. The fire extinguisher is small and easily fits there. The extinguisher has a thin plastic safety tie that holds the pin in and the safety tie should stay there until you need to use it. If any one has a better location for the extinguisher, let us know.

Winterization Plate - The oil cooler winterization plate was added between the air inlet and the oil cooler to allow the oil temperature to increase more quickly during the winter months. While the cowl was removed for this installation, two worn lord rubber cowl mounts were also changed.
