From The President - By Mike Piccirilli

Dear Members,

It sure was good news to hear the VFR flight restrictions have been lifted. I see from the schedule that Jeff, Marlin, Mike, and John have flown since then. I hope to get up soon myself. It's too bad we missed the really good weather over the past month.

The radio work and the paint was what I remember to be the hightest on the priority list. I haven't had time to get the paint from St. Charles. He wanted me to get some empty paint cans from an auto supply place and bring them by to get filled up with paint. I still have it on my "to do" list. I don't think there has been any status change for the radios.

By all means get a thorough briefing before you go flying and do a thorough pre-flight. We've all gotten a bit more rusty and the charts and rules can be modified overnight these days.

Happy Landings!

Treasurer's Report - by Marlin Sipe

Nothing much to report. The Treasury continues to improve somewhat, and should be over $2000 this month. If we get any kind of rebate on the insurance, that will help even more. If it is 10% as the emails say is possible, that would give us about another $250 in the Treasury.

   Maintenance - by John Heilmann

With the restart of VFR flying, we now have about 5 hours remaining until the oil change is due. We plan to change the oil next weekend (October 26-27). While changing the oil, we will lubricate the starter as it has been causing intermittant starting problems and in a few cases has required hand propping. The push to talk button has been touchy and we will try to replace it with a new one. On my trip to South Bend on Sunday, I also had problems with receiving on the number 1 radio. I could transmit on the number one but in some cases could only hear clearly on the number 2 radio. I turned both radios off when outside of controlled airspace. I left the transponder on the whole trip and it appeared to operate correctly.
