From The President - By Pic

Dear Members,

Thanks again to TJ Smyka for organizing the Open House and cook-out on Saturday Oct 12th. I believe it was a great success! It was wonderful to see so many members and family members getting to know one another.

John H. and I flew to Frasca Field, Urbana, IL (near Champaign) this past month for our college fraternity fly-in. It's the home of Frasca Simulators. We competed in our first Bomb Drop and Spot Landing contests and we won 1st Place in each! Those are the trophies in the club office. There is also a book on the life of Rudy Frasca we left in the office for club members to read. His story on making a success in General Aviation is inspirational.

I also had the opportunity to check out Rick's Cafe Boatyard at Eagle Creek Airpark (KEYE) near Indianapolis. It has great seafood and views of the lake and it's just across the ramp.

Dom Bausano called attention to scratches in the paint on the inboard section of the leading edge of both C-172 wings. They were apparently done during refueling from either the fueler's belt buckle or fueling nozzle. As TACair refueler's seem to religiously use a rubber mat to protect the wing, the speculation is that this was probably done during refueling away from SUS. If possible, please witness your aircraft refueling to ensure it is done correctly (fill level, grade of fuel) and carefully.

A reminder that our semi-annual club meeting will be at the hangar on Saturday Nov 9th. The officers will be discussing agenda items in the near future and Charlie will send them out for you to think about before the meeting. This is also the meeting where we select officers for the coming year. If you would like to help out by acting as one of the officers, please contact myself or Charlie so we can add you to the ballot.

Happy Landings,

Treasurer's Report - by PIC

Fuel decreased slightly to $6.30/gal, reducing the hourly cost of the Arrow to $102 but the C-172 stays at $78. No change in dues. The member share value increased to $10,580.55 due to minimal maintenance costs the past month.

TACAir just opened a new 100LL Self-Service pump that is located as shown in the photo below. Their special introductory price (including tax) was $5.22 per gallon. We will treat purchases from this pump like we do any off field fuel purchase and credit the member accordingly. At the club meeting in November, we will discuss whether to make filling up at the self-serve pump the "normal" procedure. Using the self-serve pump price the hourly rates would decrease by about $10/hr.

Fly Safely!
