From The President - By Charley

Dear Members:

It was great to see such good attendance at our recent Club meeting! Thanks to T.J. for an excellent financial update at the meeting. If anyone has questions about our finances, how they work and our philosophy as a club I suggest you contact T.J. for a discussion. Under Pic’s previous leadership and now T.J.’s, our club is in great financial condition. John also presented an excellent overview of the aircraft upgrade status and the ever evolving options available to us. We did approve the purchase of an upgraded electric trim servo for the Arrow to improve reliability. The expenditure of $1,500 will not be added to our assessment this spring but will be covered out of available club funds to be repaid over time. The Cessna upgrade is getting close with John expecting to begin work in November sometime. Thanks to John Waddell who arranged BBQ for lunch after the meeting, it was great to get a chance to socialize with everyone! <

Have you ever run into anyone at the hangar or a club function and had a moment of “who is that guy”? I think we all have! As our club has become larger, it is more difficult to place faces with names. John Housley has generously offered to organize a member picture page to include photos and a very short bio for each member as a way for people to get to know each other. The pics and short description will be in the members only area of our website and I know would go a long way towards helping to get to know each other. I don’t believe John had received many updates as of last week. If you have not had a chance to send him info and a picture, please do so at your earliest convenience.

There was a question about “Spirit Airport Tennant” stickers at the meeting. Technically, anyone driving onto airport property should have a “Spirit Airport Tennant” sticker in the front right corner of your windshield so that Airport Police can identify you as a tenant. We have obtained 10 stickers from Airport Administration and they will be in the top center drawer under the desk at the far end of the hangar office if you need one on your vehicle.

Thanks to John, Larry and Kevin for completing work on the Cessna Annual Inspection, we are all glad to hear that there were not any major issues. As John mentioned in his note, please remember to turn on aircraft heat any time the ambient temperature is below 40 degrees. The Iris system makes it convenient and easy to turn the heat on the night before or several hours before to make sure that engine oil is up to temperature before your flight. If you have difficulty logging into the system, please contact John directly.

Thanks to Tim Volk for taking the initiative to organize a holiday get together for the club. Please respond to Tim with a date that works best for you if you have not already done so.

Safe skies,

Charley

Treasurer's Report - by T.J

Fellow Members,

Members,

The October billing statement is included below with the following comments:

  • Assessment – As approved at the spring member meeting ($150), and later via e-mail ($57), we assessed $207 in the current month. Recall that 100% of these funds will be applied to the “Aircraft Improvement-Avionics” fund on our balance sheet.
  • Fuel – Amazingly the TacAir full service fuel continues to climb and finished the month at $6.58 per gallon. The price had held flat at $6.45 per gallon for the past six months and we expected it to go down; but it appears they are trying to discourage the use of full service.
  • Aircraft Values – Our semi-annual re-evaluation of aircraft is priced into the balance sheet this month; as discussed at the meeting.

    Please call with questions.
