"Orchestra for Little Fingers" Music Selections |
All of the following selections are arranged for both String and Full Orchestra except where noted. To see a thematic sample of each song, select the song title and view the Violin I part. The Violin I part is normally the most difficult part and will help you determine if the song is appropriate for your orchestra's level.
All Through the Night - This is the latest selection to be added to the "Orchestra for Little Fingers" series. This lovely arrangement of a traditional Old Welsh Folk air is only available in String Orchestra.
Aura Lee - Audiences may recognize it as Elvis Presley's Love me Tender, but this lovely melody was actually written over a hundred years ago.
Buddha's Temple - If you have a gong, this is the Oriental piece for your show. The percussion section is featured in the intro and ending of this number. Your kids will like this one.
Ceremonial March - An audience favorite for its rich, regal sound, this march can accompany a graduation ceremony, or simply add a bit of pomp and grandeur to your concert program.
Chopsticks - On a much lighter note, the emperor of novelty tunes comes to "Orchestra for Little Fingers" in an arrangement that captures all the whimsy and fun that have made Chopsticks a favorite of budding musicians for years.
Magic Music Box - The special touches in this novelty selection - pizzicato strings, orchestra bells, and four hands at the piano - have made it a perennial favorite and bestseller.
Ode to Joy - Beethoven's ever-popular theme adds the classical touch to your program in a very easy arrangement.
Rockin' Easy - As the title implies, this arrangement is easy for everyone. If you're looking for a rock number that can be played with minimal rehearsal time, this is it.
Waltz Medley - Offenbach's Barcarolle and Lehar's Merry Widow are combined in a selection that will be well received by listeners of every age. Additional preparatory violin parts are included.
We Three Kings - (Available in "String Orchestra" only) Perfect for your Christmas program, this appealing arrangement of a favorite carol requires minimal rehearsal time. The cellos have a solo in the second chorus.
Western Rider - Conjure up a peaceful western scene with this arrangement, which includes an easy optional guitar part. Add this to your program for variety.
Winter Fun - This original selection - one of the most popular in the "Little Fingers" collection - brings the holiday spirit to any Christmas or winter program.
Amazing Grace - This traditional hymn was added to the "Little Fingers" program by popular request, and has since become an audience favorite.
Andante - From Haydn's "Surprise Symphony", this selection is arranged for the middle school or the good elementary orchestra.
Canon in D - The latest in the "Little Fingers" line of classical favorites, this level II selection captures the rich, slow-building crescendo that characterizes this piece in a deceptively simple arrangement.
Evening in Arabia(Available in "Full Orchestra" only) The finger cymbals and minor flavor in this piece combine to depict images of the Sahara at sunset. Very Original.
Greensleeves - Use this stylish arrangement, which features the cello section, in your spring concert - or put in on your Christmas program as What Child is This. Under either title, it's sure to be a hit.
Largo - Featuring the cello section, Largo lets you expose your students to the beauty of Dvorak's New World Symphony.
Nobody Knows De Trouble I've Seen - Bring the haunting sound of the Old South to your concert with this arrangement of a traditional spiritual, featuring the cello section.
O Mio Babbino Cara -This lovely arrangement, adapted form Puccini's opera Gianni Schicchi, will lend your program an air of elegance. It was performed at an internationally-attended string seminar in 1995 and was very favorably received.
Open String Rock - Played entirely on the open strings, this rock number has such "kids appeal" that your orchestra will want to include it in every program.

Waltz Memories - Another fine waltz selection, this time combining Strauss' Southern Roses with Lehar's Gold and Silver.
Adagio Cantabile - The beautiful theme from Beethoven's Sonata Pathetique is a must for your next concert. You'll love the classical sound, as well as the interchangeable violin I and cello parts, which allow more flexibility in performance.
