Dear Members,
If all went as planned for Marlin he should be on his way to Pennsylvania as I write this. I'm anxiously awaiting his return to see how the radios are working. This trip sounds like a good test for them.
I had sent out a note a couple weeks ago asking your thoughts regarding the purchase of a storage container. The container would be used to store the various odds & ends that have collected in the back of the plane so we only had to take along the necessities on trips. A majority of the members have agreed with the idea. I have priced a couple different versions ($30 to $60). I'm still looking but will try to keep it within this range. I will also buy a lock and a means to keep it form "walking away".

From The Treasurer - From Marlin Sipe
The Treasury had a nice increase to about $170 this month, even after the repair of the radio, because of the amount of flying that was billed on the June bill (and paid this month). I paid the radio repair by credit card over the phone, and showed it as a credit to me on the flight bill. Faster and easier than sending a check, and saves a stamp and envelope. I'll hopefully use a large part of that standing credit on the trip.
For next month, I think the Treasury will take a step back because I should have a large credit for fuel from the trip. The month after that should jump because it is when I would be paying for that flight time.
Because of high fuel prices, Illinois has dropped some of their fuel taxes. When I was at Alton Regional on 8 July, they were selling 100LL for about $2.36 a gallon. It pays to check prices if you stop somewhere, and can save a few bucks.
Maintenance Corner - From Marlin Sipe & Randy Skyles
Randy reported last month that a knob broke on the old comm radio, and that it was being repaired at Ozark. The radio is back in. Considering the age of some of our avionics, and the cost of repair, maybe we should consider replacing broken equipment with new. Just something for everyone to think about for the future.
An oil change is due in about 18 hours, so it will be due soon after my trip.
