From The President - By Mike Piccirilli

Happy Thanksgiving,

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to be your President at this year's club elections. The remaining incumbents were all re-elected:

  • Vice-President: Chris Tebbe
  • Secretary: Mike Warakomski
  • Treasurer: Mike McBride
  • Maintenance: John Heilmann
I also wanted to thank Todd Michal for being our President for the last 6 years. The club has thrived, and grown, under his leadership!

The main topic of discussion at our semi-annual meeting was the need to reincorporate our club as a not-for-profit corporation from it's current designation as a benevolent corporation. The vote was unanimous to work with Tom Mug (lawyer and treasurer of Phantom Five Flying Club) to establish a new Articles of Incorporation, By-Laws, Tax ID #, and then close out the current benevolent corporation. I will lead this effort but am requesting assistance to revise the By-Laws. Please let me know if you would like to help. If there are any additions/changes you personally want to see in the By-Laws, nows the time to speak up. I plan on sending members a draft of the new Articles of incorporation and revised By-Laws in early December for comment and approval prior to sending it to the lawyer. See the links below for the meeting presentation and minutes:

The members at the meeting did vote unanimously to upgrade the JPI engine analyzers in both aircraft to units that graphically depict all the info continuously (improvement funds will be used).

John announced that the Arrow's KMD-150 Moving Map was sold on E-Bay for just over $1,000. Thanks for your efforts John!

Hopefully, everyone has seen the "Member Status" page of the website showing BFR and Medical currency. In order to be more proactive at alerting members to their upcoming renewals, I've asked Chris to alert members that are within 2 months of their due date for either BFRs and Medicals and color them "Yellow". If either goes delinquent, I've asked him to color them red. Chris will also be requesting updated flight time info for the annual insurance renewal. Please be prompt in providing Chris your updates.

I've had the chance to fly the 172 recently and wanted to thank Mike Landgraf for making new chocks and installing the new nose wheel stop. They really look good!

Happy Landings!

Treasurer's Report - by Mike McBride

Fuel prices remained stable at TACAir, keeping flight rates at $71 and $95 for the C172 and Arrow, respectively. Treasury and escrow balances are all in good shape, with no unexpected expenses for the month. The C172 flew slightly over 14 hours for the month, and the Arrow logged just over 15 hours.

John has acquired the new EDM-730 displays for the JPI engine monitors; those charges will hit the treasury next month, and will be offset by rebates on the existing displays and by improvement funds.

Fly safely!

Mike

  • Maintenance - There were no maintenance actions on the Cessna this month.

  • EDM-730 Engine Monitor - The club voted to upgrade the current EDM-700 engine monitor to the EDM-730 color display engine monitor. The display should fit where the current display is located as shown below.

  • EDM-830 Upgrade - The club voted to upgrade the EDM-700 in the arrow to the EDM-830 Color Display engine monitor. Additional probes will be added for RPM, Outside Air Temperature, and Manifold Pressure to calculate % Horsepower and display Manifold Pressure readings. An initial look indicates we may be able to install the EDM-830 where the current EDM-700 display is located as shown below. Will have to look into this further to make sure the existing instrument hole can be enlarged without any clearance issues to other systems/instruments.
