From The President - By Mike Piccirilli

Dear Members,
Happy Spring!

Thanks for submitting your insurance info to Todd. Todd has sent in the requested info but has not yet received any quotes. Various articles in aviation publications have recently been written about the higher cost of insurance, if available at all, due to many companies gettting out of the aviation business. Cross your fingers that it hasn't gone through the roof!

Hopefully, you have gotten John the info regarding your availability in April for helping with the annual. If not, please send him an email ASAP!

We recently got an e-mail of another person interested in joining the club. He is a fairly new Private pilot and seems very motivated. I've replied with a note for him to be patient.

Happy Landings!

From The Treasurer - by Marlin Sipe

Nothing much to report on the Treasury this month. There's a 20 cent expense listed because of an error on the deposit last month. I called the bank and they said they would credit the account, but it did not show up on the bank statement. For 20 cents, it's not worth the hassle, so I'm showing it as an expense to make the totals come out correct..

Maintenance - by John Heilmann

EnginePre-Heat - Here is a good article on engine pre-heating during cold weather. AVweb article on engine Pre-heating. It maybe a little late for this year but I think it would be benificial to install an engine pre-heat system prior to next year. Most of the other aircraft in the Shade ports have an electrical pre-heat system plugged in. It should increase our engine life in addition to making it easier to start in the winter.

Annual Inspection - I flew over to St Charles County airport last weekend to check out the hanger that is available to do the annual inspection. The hanger is located in the North east corner hanger as shown on the map to the left. The hanger has 110 volt outlets, overhead lights and a portable stand with dual lights. We hope to finalize the date for the annual by 30 March. We are looking at 20-22 April as the most probable timeframe for the annual, but we still have a few issues to work out.

Oil Analysis - The Oil Analysis results from the oil change on February 10th were received and are shown below. All the values were reported as normal.
